I've tried searching online for the chip(s) used in current consumer digital alarm clocks. Most references I've found refer to long obsolete chip numbers from the MM531x series or other obsolete chips such as the MM5387. I have a small quantity of these older chips, but I have plans for a project that may exceed my inventory. While I could utilize a PIC, I think it's rather unlikely that mass-produced clocks selling for under $10 use a microcontroller. I'm thinking there must be a National number for a clock chip in current production I'm unaware of.
