Same with VirtualBox, however, not by the OSE though (Open Source Edition) but the one you can download from Sun Microsystem directly. I am using MPLAB + PICkit2 this way successfully for quite some time now and happy. Suspending the virtual machine and waking it up is no more than 5 sec and as I store all sources on a shared folder I can use any Linux tool for backup + version control.
