Given the learning curve that he's obviously been on when it comes to PICs 
and assember, that's arguably not too bad. Seeing the capability mentioned a 
few dozen times can easily not register as you sweat through the basics of 
getting the 'hello world' / 'flash a LED' going. It's often only when you 
get to sit back and admire what you achieved that you begin to discover all 
the other things you have yet to learn. That's how it often works with most 
mere mortals anyway.
