Hi, I own a Velleman PCS500 scope (http://www.vellemanusa.com/us/enu/product/view/?id=351379). It connects to a PC via the parallel printer port. I bought it four years back for $500...expensive for hobby use. It had been serving well until I upgraded my PC which doesn't have parallel printer port and has USB ports. As it seemed obvious, I also bought a USB-Parrallel port adapter for the scope. It didn't work and the scope wouldn't communicate with it. I bought another adapter and still no luck. Then I sent an email to Velleman tech support. Man was I disappointed and pissed off with their response. They basically said tough luck, their scope uses a propreitary protocol which works only with standard parallel ports and that they were not responsible for changes is PC hardware and that I should buy their new USB based scope ($500). Why should I replace a perfectly good scope and that too because of a lousy port. I was expecting at least some help from them on which adapter would work with their scope. This is the second time a Euorpean company has screwed me. Earlier I bought a UPS from a french company and their tech support was similar. Anyway, my question to the great folks of piclist is, what can I do about the USB-Parallel adapter? Thanks. -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
