:: How about enough PICs and SD cards to share the task ? For example,
:: PIC1 processes lines 1, 4, 7 ... PIC2 processes lines 2, 5, 8..
:: and PIC3
:: processes lines 3, 6, 9....

Sounds like a job for some F-Ram or perhaps the Parallax Propeller 
chip.
