Really?  Which brand are you thinking of?  I would have thought TI was  
the canonical example of a "better" algebraic calculator, and the ones  
I've used have all been RPN when it came to functions beyond +-*/...   
(all strictly numeric; no formula-based versions yet.)

Yes; it sounds awful.  I am certainly used to thinking RPNish for  
those functions.
