  I can think of two things that might be the problem.
  First try to send a zero byte before the "!SC" command.
  Second, make sure you are NOT using the internal oscillator (OSC4MHZ on the DEVICE line), because the internal oscillator is not accurate enough for serial communications. Use a resonator.
