Hi, >Crystal set.... that's the first thing I ever built... Coil capacitor and an >OA81 and a crystal earpiece.... >Shortwave for a year tilt I learnt about valves.... We are ate different times ! There is the Internet. 7 years old kid's can talk to others all over the World using Club Penguin and similar websites. Shortwave listenning made much more sense for us then they do now :-( I had the same question about how to teach electronics to my 6 years old son. I decided to "start from the beginning" and made a few drawnings showing how the electrons "jump" from Atom to Atom and how that "flux" makes things happen. To my BIG surprise he got that concept pretty easily and told me that it was fun. One of the comments he made in the next few days was that the reason for having 2 wires on the power cords was because the electrons needed a place to get back !! I loved it :-) :-) After a few more "classes" his interest started to "vanish" and I decided to take a break and get back when his interest returns. He is 7 now and his interest is starting to come back. We have to respect their "timing" at these things. I bought a "kit" where the parts "clip" over the others but he did not find it very interesting. He liked much more when I got a breadbord and made some led's light and exchanged resistor to change the brightness. Motors and diodes ( things that stop the electrons at one direction ) where also interesting for him. If anyone knows of a more "formal" way to teach I would love to hear about it.
