I am not sure how long it will take USB3 to be main stream. But taking into account that USB2 still have problems when you try to use it at max speed in many areas, I doubt USB3 will be robust enough to get max out of it anytime soon. There are many mass storage devices that will hang Windows if you put them at sustained max speed. What is the industry need for a faster USB if you can't really use USB2 at max speed reliably today? 2008/11/24, Xiaofan Chen : > > Spec: > http://www.usb.org/developers/docs/ > > Presentations: > http://www.usb.org/developers/presentations/ > > Remarks from Jan Axelson (LVR.com) and Barry Twycross (Apple): > https://www.usb.org/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=14169 > > It will take some time before it goes main stream though > (2 years?, three years?). > Firstly Intel and AMD need to support it and then major > PC maker (HP, Dell, Apple, etc) will support it.
