When I'm on the road, I use rdesktop on my laptop when I'm booted into Linux when connecting to the office Vista. I also use stunnel to increase the security between the two system. This way, if I boot into XP on my laptop, I can do remote desktop through stunnel as well. There are examples of using stunnel on the main site, www.stunnel.org. We also use stunnel on our IMAP/SMTP and MySQL server. Fortunately there are only a few of us that run around outside of the company walls so certificate handling (creating/revoking) is relatively painless. Subject: [OT] Remote desktop: Linux<->Vista via internet I wish to operate my Vista work PC from my Linux box at home. I'm still reading about SSH, rdesktop, various VNC and VPN versions, etc. I'm a bit wary that Vista doesn't work very well with some of this technology. It seems I have to set my work PC up as a server, and my home PC would be the client. Not sure about setting up SSH at either end, however; perhaps that function is incorporated into the server software? I think I can cope with configuring home and work routers once it's clear what ports need opening or forwarding etc. Has anyone any successful experiences of accessing a Vista PC over internet, using a remote Linux PC?
