Does anyone have a good reference link online (or pdf) for specifying when and where to use different capacitor types, such as the tradeoffs between aluminum vs tantalum electrolytics, etc? The finer points of the benefits and reasons for one one choice over another, ESR considerations, latest technologies, etc - going a good bit beyond just capacitance and voltage as specs... Analog apps from DC and switching to audio freq through RF. Would prefer something along the lines of a pdf which can be downloaded as a reference, rather than an online tutorial or multi-page web site. It's for an advanced high school (first/second year college level should work) electronics workshop on circuits and design. (I could probably use a brush-up too ;-) Some discussion of fields would be OK, as would a little background math (calculus OK), but am really looking for a good all-around design guide.
