Some pests are temporarily driven away by ultrasonic's, they eventually get acclimated to the sound and it stops bothering them. Often pests will move off on their own (better food or shelter elsewhere) leading to the reports by some people of ultrasonic units working (confusing correlation with causation). The US FTC has tested dozens of devices over the past few decades and has ruled that at best they have a temporary effect. In 2001 they started legal action against 60 manufacturers but, the manufacturers got a get out of jail free card in that all they have to do is put "temporary" in the small print. Some of the manufacturers now say, be sure to leave the device in place to keep the temporary effect working. > 2) If they eat poison ( I am adverse to killing creaturez ) do they > crawl under your dishwasher and die and rot and stink ? They're too small to stink up the place but, I still prefer to use spring traps and dispose of the corpse. > 3) My next door neighbor has put out poison and it looks like some > meez came over here and regurgitated blood on my counter. Is this > possible ? Yes, I've seen bloody mouse vomit near dead poisoned mice when my brother used poison. He's since switched to spring traps, poison and glue traps are disgusting (we found a dead three legged mouse who chewed off a leg to get out of a glue trap). > 4) Are mooses smart enough to avoid traps ? I have read they are > not...... mine seem smarter. ( Actually they are not mine, just > illegal aliens ) Not smart just lucky, sometimes their touch is light enough that they lick the peanut butter off the trap without setting it off. I just reapply peanut butter and put the trap back, so far my record for a lucky mouse is four times got away, fifth time got it.
