Hi, I have been able to find an answer to most of my questions in the FAQ . but this time I cant find what I need to know. Have a heap of pcb's to repair . and have got most going, but I have a couple where I suspect the micro . an NEC uPD78233GC. Each board has a 27C256 eprom and the boards are expensive to replace . AUD$1600 . >From the data sheet I understand that the 78233GC doesn't have any on-board ROM . so my question is . Is it fair to suggest that I should be able to simply replace the micro and expect it to work still .. or is it likely that the micro would have to be an original . coz it seems there's no chance of getting a factory one !!! Thanks for any help. Regards, RDW -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
