I have a 1980 motorbike which uses ye olde points (contact breaker) and condenser (high voltage capacitor) technology. Points and condenser both need replacing, but I'm looking to modernise this part of the engine. Has anyone had any good results with replacing the increasingly rare condenser with a more commercially available capacitor? Any recommendations for peak voltage, composition etc? I think the original condensers are made of foil and paper, not sure. Thanks Matt PS. One day I may install an optically triggered electronic version of the same thing, to eliminate the decay problems that go with this design. Or just buy a better bike. -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
