V2.x framework is better. V1.x has quite some bugs. The links I provided

Still people have used Microchip V1.x and V2.x stack for commercial
projects. Be carefully about the silicon  anomalies (eg: A3 stepping
of 18F2550/4550) and try to get the later silicon to avoid them.
