Apple has dropped Firewire 400 from the new Macbook even though it still keeps Firewire 400/800 on the higher-end Macbook Pro series. http://www.anandtech.com/mac/showdoc.aspx?i=3431&p=2 On the other hand, the lower-end HP Compaq notebook we bought last Christmas and the new low-end Acer Desktop I have now both have Firefire interface. So far, I have no use for it. Some people use it to transfer video from video camera but it seems now there are now other easier method to transfer video from new viecams (USB, SDHC card, DVDs, etc). Interesting move for Apple. Is Firewire doomed? Take note that USB 3.0 is on the horizon actually. https://www.usb.org/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=14104 Xiaofan -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
