Canon and Sony are most popular here in Singapore. I think Canon PowerShot Pro cameras are for the pro-consumer market. I still use my old Nikon 3100 (3 Megapixel) as it is good enough for me. It is a bit slow when writing to the CF cards. But other than that, it is fine. My brother-in-law has the analog Nikon SLR and a film scanner, but he seldom used it now.
