I paid about $400 for a vaguely similar system.  Plus shipping and  
local sales tax for a total of about $465.  But I couldn't just go  
into a store a buy what I wanted; Wii's are still scarce in actual  
stores in the US, and I had to do some pre-order bundle by mail things.

I like it (and my kids like it.)  It's clever.  And it's relatively  
consumer friendly; plays GC games without add-ons, uses SD card for  
saved-game storage, built-in wireless networking, wireless  
controllers, etc...
