It is always something interesting to me what a "smarter" person does in a given situation. As far as IQ tests go, it seems to mean the ability to extrapolate a given data set further than a "less smart" person. However most of the "smarter" people by IQ seem to lack "mechanical aptitude". A gut feel for how something in the real world is going to work that lets you solve a real world problem. I wasn't the smartest out of the group of friends, the last test I did that had some merit put me at 128. Some of the other guys were 140 or so and when they explained how they got the questions I didn't I could really see where those extra 20 points went. None of them can weld worth a damn though and ask them to build a robot and they would be horribly lost. Set them a problem on paper (a drum spinning at 3000rpm hits a 13kg steel box at velocity Y how big a bearing does it need) and they will solve it in minutes. > >> There's no measure of creativity or determination really >> though, I think that is mainly what makes people successful in this way. >> Anybody can come up with a good idea, its putting in the hard yards to >> make it a viable product that makes the difference. >> > > Indeed.
