I'm not usually overly interested with the latest PC hardware announcements. But I'd been hoping that Intel would actually produce this one, and here it is http://www.embedded.com/products/integratedcircuits/210603193?_requestid=43345 Dual core Atom cpu. Now I just have to wait for it to trickle into the netbook market and for the price to assymptote properly and it should then be about time to buy a netbook. Long battery life and a dual core cpu sound like strange companions, but there are some things that work far better with the two cores, regardless of speed. It appears that Intel has noticed this - or maybe they are just after the bells and whistles buyers. The ultraportable Sony Vaio notebooks have claimed 10 hour plus battery lives. The latest "netbooks" (such as Le Novo's latest offering) should give them a very good run for their money when portability and battery life matter, at about 1/3 the price of the ~ 11" Vaios'.
