It was my understanding that Python has no braces to specify block nesting,
that this is done with indentation alone.  If so, then braces absolutely go
away because that is how the language is specified.

But that appears to be for C, and furthermore I disagree with the convention
described there (allthough that is not relevant to this discussion).
