It sounds like the issue is writing an application for the PC that can talk to the PIC interface. I have not tried to do that myself. Instead, I do a USB interface (using FT245 or similar), test it with Teraterm, then hand it off to the Windows programmer! One approach I'm trying now is to put the user interface on the PIC and using an Ethernet interface to the PC. The web browser handles user I/O without having to do anything special on the PC side.
