Does anybody know off the top of their head the part number for the TI shift register driver chip that is functionally similar to a 74xx595 serial in/parallel out shift register with latch but which has a stronger output drive? Or something similar. I plan to use a chain of such chips to drive one edge of a grid (matrix) of LEDs. Each output would be driving one LED at a time in an 8:1 multiplex so I'd like to see an output current of about 100ma per output. The separate output latch isn't an absolute must since I can turn off the drive to the other edge of the grid while loading the register. This would be ok as long as I can load the register quickly enough that the off time (while loading) is not too large a proportion of the total time. Or alternatively another (fast) way to drive a large matrix of LEDs.
