I'm not a "Hi-tech" person, but I have been successfully using PICC-Lite and HI-TECH C Pro (in lite mode) alongside each other for a couple of months - they happily coexist. I use them within MPLAB, and when you select the HI-TECH universal toolsuite in MPLAB, the two compilers appear as drivers. It's possible to give priority to PICC-Lite, so that it is used for PICs which it supports, while using HI-TECH C Pro for the rest.
