I think the problem (that is, one of them) is that the ones who really think about what they have to lose (and gain) are the ones who don't practice tiny bits of sabotage wherever they can, but rather take a course in jet ski maintenance... I have a distant acquaintance who got helped by a friend because he was in financial trouble. I haven't heard from him in a while, and now it turns out he inherited a rather big sum from his father, spent it all in a relatively short time, and is back to square 0. Some people just don't seem to think they have anything to lose, no matter what they have.
