I'm not sure why Russell does that, but it bothers me sometimes, for two reasons: 1. He can say what he says, in a lot fewer words, and using much simpler English. 2. Often times, he resorts to complex allegories, which makes it impossible to respond to his posts in a meaningful way -- it's not clear who or what these allegories represent. "What I *really* meant by the 850-pound gorilla was..." There is no doubt that Russell is a highly intelligent and a very erudite person, has a lot of great ideas to share on a multitude of topics, but IMO the two issues above make his posts less enjoyable to read.
