A123 cells are a particular (very good!) brand of LiFePO4 cells, from  
http://www.a123systems.com/  These are the ones used in power tools  
that I mentioned, using "nanotechnology" as well as the different  
chemistry.  However, there ARE LiFePO4 cells that are not from  
A123systems.  These retain the improved safety, but have discharge  
capabilities typical of "normal" Li-ion cells...
