I would like to convince the shop owner that the problem was not caused by us (that would be the best option). Any ideas on how to accomplish this? They seem like a reputable small business. My second step would be to do a chargeback. What kind of proof would I need to provide to the credit card company to convince them we're innocent? The only remaining option I see, is taking the case to a small claims court. I really hope it doesn't get to that, but if it does, what kind of evidence can I provide to support the claim that the engine failed from fatigue, or poor maintenance?
