Anyone know what's the most likely cause of knee pain that moves around? Sometimes it's behind the knee cap, sometimes it's at the back of the leg down into the calf, sometimes it's at the back of the leg up into the thigh. I've had it for years now in my left knee. The right knee's grand. When it first came about I wasn't able to train on it and I ended up stopping training altogether for about a year, but now I can get by OK but there's still pain from it from time to time. I think I got the original injury from running for miles on hard concrete. I'm no expert on knee anatomy, but from looking at diagrams of the knee it looks like tendons and ligaments are the things that are around the joint and extend into the muscles. So my guess would be either that the tendons or the ligaments are inflamed or stressed in some way... tendinitis maybe? I had an MRI scan a few years ago and it didn't show any problems. I can get by OK the way things are but it'd be a bonus if I could get the pain to go away... I was thinking of doing heavy weights on my legs to strengthen the tendons and ligaments... but seeing as how I already go running three times a week I thought my knee would be more than conditioned. When I warm my leg up the pain goes away (or at least I don't notice it). -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
