In the middle ages timing was done by reciting=20 prayers.Synchronizing was done in the same way. The records we have do no= t=20 show stopwatch data tables, but indicate great repeatability. The swords= ,=20 for example had to be put in the fire at a certain position for a specifi= c=20 time and with drawn and put in oil for a certain time and repeated within= a=20 certain time. The way the timed it was by prayer. So many of one prayer= =20 and so many of another. A reproduction in modern times shows accuracy=20 within milliseconds. People have a remarkable ability to reproduce timing= =20 accurately without the aid of external devices. Musicians and dancers hav= e=20 learned how to use this internal timing. I could be wrong, but I bet the=20 drummers had a lot of practice with internal counting and timing. ----- Original Message -----=20 From: "M.
