There are things to disagree with by citizens of every country. It is a sign of the times. I have family in China (PRC and ROC) and I disapprove of many aspects of the government in PRC. But the Chinese people are for the most part, in my opinion, a wonderful and great people. I disagree strongly with the tax structure in the US and I am appalled that there is a proposal by one of our presidential nominees to add $845 billion more on the shoulders of the already overtaxed people, to give to the UN because we just cannot shoulder it. And it looks like it has a chance to become a reality. I am not unpatriotic to oppose that policy decision and others. The difference is that we can be in opposition to the government here. At least for now. The Beijing extravaganza, however, is a stupendous and fantastic expression of humanity. It is not that we should see it as Chinese but rather as China's contribution to humanity. It is not a matter of opulence but of human fulfillment. The opening ceremony was wonderful expression of the human spirit in the tradition of the Ancient Greeks. I, for one, applaud the Chinese officials for their contribution. It may be that they have set a precedent; one that may be difficult to follow. That, however, does not compel me to laud their human violations as well. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tony Smith" To: "'Microcontroller discussion list - Public.'"
