Hello All,

I am a newbie and have some basic questions Re ROMless microcontrollers
(E.g.PIC18C601 )

What is the purpose of ROMless microcontrollers? Do they increase
performance?

Where is the program code written as this type doesnt have Flash or ROM ?

1 reason tht came to my mind was, may be the in built ROM of microcontroller
is insufficient and with ROMless a user can access to external memory
,application dependent and a Bootloader than does rest of job, but again for
bootloader we need a ROM, at this point a bit confused. I would appreciate
any explaination or links.,Thanks !!
