Which doesn't stop people using them. Good points. Good humor, too :) One thing nobody has mentioned so far is standardizing on 2 or 3 battery pack sizes and trading them at gas stations. So you'd be paying for the energy you used and no time spent charging, they charge at the gas station for the next customer. Have some usage charge through a leasing pool or whatever to handle wear and tear if you charge them at home with your own power. Then it doesn't matter what type of "battery" it is. Your car would be electric and can take whatever battery pack is available, be it nimh, lion, hydrogen or even lead-acid.
