What I meant when I said 'follower', is the general thing that 'everyone' trusts Olin's expertise. It makes people too comfortable when he states something and then people fall in to the same trap you did. Olin said use an 'E' part, implying that it was the only one that covered the temp. range. You 'followed' him in the sense that you re-stated what his 'obvious' intent was - trusting Olin's assertion without checking it first. This is the 'expert' trap, where people stop questioning the experts and then 'bad things happen'.
