A few weeks ago I asked about a production SPI EEPROM programmer... Now I'm working on something else and find that I'm going to probably be using a GAL20V8 for some logic work... which will also require it's own programmer. Right now, I'm using Olin's ProProg for the PIC's and that's working well, and I like the way it works (start the programmer on the PC, then everything is done at the programmer). I also had a SPI programmer designed but not actually implemented. Now with the GAL's, I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that I really need to just break down and buy a universal programmer which will work for production work. My budget is "around $1k or less", with hoepfully the emphasis on less, but I also don't want to buy 3 $800 programmers by the time I am done... I've looked around quite a bit and I've eliminated a few from the competition. Right now, the top contenders seem to be the Elnec Beeprog+ or the Xeltec Superpro 3000U, simply because they seem to have the most flexible architecture, although I'm still open to buying something else. What other universal programmers should I be looking at, and do any of you have any experience with the two I mentioned?
