I used Perforce for years and find Subversion beats it thoroughly. YMMV and de gustibus non disputandam. And it's been several years since I've seen Perforce now, so maybe it's lovely. (Also - You don't need to install a server to use Subversion - if you're a lone programmer you can just use local repositories, so it's quite simple.) -- Timothy J.
