Have you seen Mercurial?

Pretty much the same concept, but without the exponential commit time, or the 
weirdness of Darcs (or at least /I/ found Darcs a bit weird).

The biggest problem with Mercurial is that you can't do a partial checkout, 
you either check out everything or nothing. One of the Summer of Code students 
is reported to be working on fixing that, though.
