I think if you want to use Linux ports of compression tools on Windows, it probably makes sense to use a port of a Linux shell. This may give you less trouble, as the quoting probably is more consistent. Or you use a proper Windows zipper in a Windows shell. Did you try 7-zip (is said to work also on the command line)?
