Olin, I wish you could talk with my OSO about this. She would tell you that while it is important to be honest, that brutal honesty is frequently counterproductive. So someone asked a question that you found offensive. I agree, in the example that you quoted above, it did seem that the person might be trying to obtain software without paying for it. I think most of the people on this list would be opposed to that idea. But why did you choose to reply the way you did? You could have used a softer tone. It is important to remember that text isn't a wonderful communications medium. People say things they didn't mean, or say it in a way that could be misinterpreted. YOU might have misinterpreted. So why not tone it down a little?
