thanks for the input everyone. I now understand that it's a lot more complex than it seems. What I actually wanted to achieve was to calculate a value for R1 which would raise the charge current to a nominal 150mA instead of the present nominal 100mA. All of this is assuming that the transformer can cope. It seems i'll just have to experiment with different values for R1 and measure the resultant charge current. The actual pack I intend to charge with it is a 1500mAh 8 cell NiMH. I want to be able to charge it in 14 hours, which is a standard quoted time for a C/10 charge rate, and corresponds to approximately an overnight charge.
