Typically in small audio amplifiers such as headphone amps, the gain is fixed and the input is attenuated, or the gain changed. Leaving the amp to run wide open, and attenuate its output would cause a lot of distortion. -Jon On 5/20/08, alan smith wrote: > OK, so heres a question. Small signal (electret mic) preamp stage, then feeding to a unity gain buffer. Is it better to adjust the gain at the opamp, or max its gain and then attenuate the output in order to tweak the overall gain? > > -- > http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive > View/change your membership options at > http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist > -- Jonathan Hallameyer -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
