Hi George I've just checked & iy's already set to LPCM mode. Changing it to Bitstream didn't help either for what it's worth! I'd think that the audio stage or its PS had died except for the slight blip in the speakers when I change chapters - presumably some sort of mute function. That would indicate that at least part of the audio chain is workin OK - but, since the video side of things is working fine I don't really imagine there's much going on between the decoder and the mute switch. I've just downloaded a service manual for a similar (I hope) model so that might give me a few clues.
