Winston Churchill would have been a taker in his younger 
days (and in his older, albeit perhaps not 
effectively)(living through what he did to get him to the 
stage that he could send others off to experience what he 
had experienced is unbelievable.)
And Ariel Sharon.
Arguably Ike (although not as hand to hand as eg Winnie).
And just possibly the execrable M Begin (he mainly 
specialised in unarmed UN envoys, hotels, & w... and ch... 
*).
Even the much maligned A. Hitler was immensely brave 
personally in his younger days (WW1 trenches dispatch runner 
who voluntarily took other people's duty rosters for "trips 
to the front".)
