I believe what he is trying to say is that he has a sub-routine with x-amount of parameters. When you have a sub-routine that has parameters, In that sub-routine, you need to assign the parameters to variables in order to work with them. I think that he is asking if you can work directly with the parameter name instead of assigning it to another variable.
