But it's not about architecture, it's about the C variable time_t, and C compilations are and will be in micros for many years to come. I personally have some original micros still in service after almost 20 years, and there's no reason why they won't go for another 20. They don't have C in them, but ones in production do. Micros now are quite capable of performing tasks that would have once required a PC.
