In Toronto there is a street called Admiral Road. When they built the
road (some 100 years ago I believe), there was a large tree right
where they wanted to build...so they made the row wide and routed it
around the tree. The tree didn't survive the construction but the fat
part of the road persisted. You can see it here:

The fat part is right between the two "Admiral Rd" labels.
