> plasmas that mimic exotic stellar objects known as brown > dwarfs http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nemesis_%28star%29 I'm extremely disappointed that you didn't send that response on list. If you had, I'd have been able to say. "I vote that we relegate discussions of Nemesis to [OT]. What's the value of raving on about some theoretical star that some people dream up as an anchor to some wild theories about reasons for dinosaur extinctions ??? Where's the science in that. How can you measure a start that you can't see? Or see a star that you can't measure? And who's ever seen a live real dinosaur for that matter? Or a live extinct one either, come to think of it? And as for Brown Dwarfs and Red Dwarfs - clearly SciFi is OT. All this galactic cycle postulates stuff, with periods out by as much as 40% from the observed extinction frequencies seems highly suspect. Sounds like all the postulated observations that are meant to do all sorts of things in other suspect areas that shouldn't be talked about. Next thing we know you'll be on about triple helix DNA, and fire breathing Dragons and going between, and who knows what else. Why can't you keep discussions to the common easy boring stuff that we all understand and leave the controversial interesting stuff to the REAL experts????" But, as you didn't, I can't.
