Back on topic:  I still have a couple of Beebs somewhere.  "Elite" was the best computer game I've ever played, but it was somewhat let down by the Beeb's 
hardware of the time - the screen resolution was a bit pants, and there was no joystick so you had to use keys - not the easiest way to "fly"!  The tragedy was 
the when it was converted (rewritten?) for PCs, which solved those problems, they moronically changed the gameplay, and completely ruined it.  Maybe for the 
best, as I would have wasted even more of my time playing it!  :-)
