Thanks, that's great. I like this from Microchip: 
"Note that this displays the revision value in the silicon.  PICkit 2
doesn't have a database mapping the value to the published designation
(e.g. "A2") but this should be available in the part documentation."

I'm not sure what part documentation he refers to - I just skimmed a
datasheet, errata and programming spec for the 16F628A and saw no table
of rev codes. But I think Wouter mentioned that as being another problem
with documentation methods.

BTW, I used the 4 pin steered PWM peripheral in the 16F884 and was
pleasantly surprised to find it worked for me with no problems :)
