Hi, Bob, >Interestinly enough, there is no revision number shown at all for the16F505. Microchip explained this before on why "PICkit 2 Programmer" software cannot auto-detect the baseline chips on its own forum. For those baseline chips, like the 12F508/509 16F505, 16F54/57/59, etc, don't have a flash/place to save those silicon revision and chip id infos. So these info is not available anyway, it doesn't matter which software you are going to use. We probably can ask Microchip if reading rev. function can be added to both MPLAB and "PICkit 2 Programmer" software. It could be useful since different silicon rev. got its own silicon erratas. >PICKIT2" application does not read it at all. I believe this info might have already been read by the "PICkit 2 Programmer" software, it might just not been shown on the GUI at this moment. Most likely the chip ID and silicon revision are store at the address close to each other, it won't be too hard to get both at the same time. Again, We can check with Micorchip. Regards, Funny N. MPLAB only reads it upon initialization of the PICKIT2 programmer, and the "PICKIT2" application does not read it at all. Interestinly enough, there is no revision number shown at all for the 16F505. Other part numbers easily at hand do show rev number.
